Jetstar Pacific launched a sale promotion programme to offer cheap tickets for domestic flights on March 10th.


A one-way ticket from Ho Chi Minh City – Da Nang and Hanoi – Da Nang costs VND 315,000, while a one-way ticket for flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City costs VND 600,000. The promotion drive lasts until 19.59 on March 15th. However, tickets are only valid for flights from May 6th-25th \ and from September 7th – October 27th.


One way tickets for flights between September 7th – October 27th, from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue and Hai Phong also costs VND 350,000 and one-way tickets from HCM City to Vinh and Hai Phong costs VND 650,000.

PANOVietnam Cuba Friendship Hospital, Hanoi in conjunction with Operation Smile Vietnam are to provide free medical check-up and surgeries for children born with cleft palates from Hanoi and adjacent provinces from March 29th to April 2nd .


About 100 patients will benefit from this program which is sponsored by Sika Vietnam.


The patients will also receive financial assistance to cover transportation and food expenses during their stay at the hospital.


This is the second in a series of five missions of surgeries for children with cleft lip/cleft palate deformities which Sika Vietnam has committed to sponsor in 2010.


The first mission took place in Ho Chi Minh City earlier this month, from March 8th to 12th, and the remaining three missions will be conducted in Ho Chi Minh City and other cities throughout the country. 


Sika Limited (Vietnam), a 100% foreign-invested Swiss company, specialises in the production and provision of chemicals for construction.

Over VND 600million water supply project for poor people

Tien Giang Province is carrying out a water supply project, at the cost of more than VND 600 million, to supply clean water to poor people who are living in salted soil areas.


According to this, more than 19,000 members of over 3,800 households in coastal communes of Go Cong Dong and Tan Phu Dong districts, lying along Cua Tieu River, will benefit from the project. Local people had been exposed to shortages of fresh water, especially in the dry seasons.

The Ba To uprising was of great importance to the cause of national liberation, said State President Nguyen Minh Triet at a ceremony to mark the 65th anniversary of the uprising in Quang Ngai province on March 11.


In his speech, Secretary of the Quang Ngai provincial Party Committee, Pham Dinh Khoi recalled the time when Ba To guerrillas rose up to fight better-armed Japanese and French occupational forces in 1945.


The Ba To guerilla group- the first armed force of the Communist Party of Vietnam in south-central region, was established on March 11 1945, under the leadership of the Quang Ngai provisional Party Committee. With only 17 guerillas at its establishment, the group wiped out the Ba To post, ensuring the victory of the uprising and the establishment of a revolutionary administration in Ba To district.


At the ceremony, President Triet praised Quang Ngai’s outstanding achievements over the past 35 years and called on the province to uphold the heroic tradition and the spirit of undaunted struggle of the Ba To guerillas by turning Quang Ngai into a prosperous and beautiful province.


Mr Triet then presented the Labour Order, first class, to the cadres and people of Ba To district in recognition of their contribution to national development in the 2005-2010 period.


Mr Triet also attended a ceremony to commemorate to the Ba To uprising and planted memorial trees at the Ba To Museum.

Viettel, the Defence Telecommunications Group, will continue its supports of medical equipment for Dakrong District, Quang Tri in 2010 under the Government’s Resolution 3a.


Viettel officials said that, in addition, the group will provide expenses for training courses for local medics to improve their professional abilities and skills under the national standards. 


Alongside the support for the local medical sector, it will also build 2 boarding schools for local children, mostly ethnic minorities, as well as installing a LAN network in local administrative agencies and providing resources for IT and computer skills training for local officials.

Army units join Environmental Protection Campaign

PANO – Members of the Youth Union organisations of military units on March 11th echoed the Environmental Protection Campaign, launched by Hanoi authorities.


Youths from the Military Cinema, the Military Library, the Military Publishing House, the People’s Army Newspaper, the Central Military Court, the Defence Insurance and the General Department of Politics together with local youngsters participated in tidying street activities in Hang Ma precinct, Hanoi.


Military and civilian young people swept streets and planted trees along streets and parks.


 According to the organisers, the campaign will last until  Dec. 22nd, 2010 and street tidying activities will take place in the afternoon every Thursday.


They also said that the campaign is one practical action of military youths to observe the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.

Jetstar Pacific offers discounted fares on 129 routes

The cheap flight airline Jetstar Pacific announced all of its global branches are applying the same promotion programme for 129 domestic and international routes starting from March 10-15.


The discounted fares for domestic flights will be VND315,000 on the Ho Chi Minh City-Da Nang and Hanoi-Da Nang routes while Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City flight willcost VND600,000 per ticket. Prices will be applied to flights from May 6-25 and September 7- October 27.


Tickets for flights on the Ho Chi Minh City-Hue and Ho Chi Minh City-Vinh/Hai Phong routes from September 7-October 27 will be sold at VND350,000 and VND650,000, respectively.


International air fares in the programme are also discounted. It will cost US$25 from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh City and US$69 from Darwin, Australia to Ho Chi Minh.


The global Jestar network now processes Jetstar Airways (Australia), Jetstar Pacific Airlines (Vietnam), Jetstar Asia Airways and Value Air with 50 offices across the globe.

PANO – Over 10,000 international and domestic tourists have arrived in Dang Thuy Tram infirmary in Pho Cuong village, Duc Pho district, Quang Ngai province, since the beginning of the year.


After visiting and burning incense to tribute the Dang Thuy Tram doctor, a hero martyr, and the infirmary, tourists also visited the “Dang Thuy Tram Mountain”, where she had fought and bravely laid down her life.


Leaders of Dang Thuy Tram infirmary in Pho Cuong village said that the number of tourists visiting the infirmary sharply increased against last year.

An American luxury cruise ship Nautica docked at Cai Lan port, bringing 1,000 foreign tourists to the world heritage site of Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh for the first time on March 9.


During their stay in Vietnam hosted by Tan Hong Company, the tourists will visit the beautiful landscapes of Ha Long Bay, the capital city of Hanoi and the port city of Hai Pong.


Ha Long Bay has so far this year welcomed several foreign cruise ships carrying thousands of holiday-makers.


Quang Ninh strives to welcome 5.2 million tourists, including 2.4 million foreign visitors this year.

The Board of Managers of Mercure Hotel Chain announced on March 9th a joint cooperation programme with Highlands Coffee shops to promote its brand name in Vietnam.


The programme is aimed at advertising Viet Thai International Joint Stock Company’s Trung Nguyen, one of the Vietnamese leading coffee brands, and Accor Hotel Management Group’s Mercure brand name in Vietnam.


According to Tony Chisholm, CEO of Mercure Da Lat Du Parc Hotel, through the programme, customers tasting Jelly Freeze coffee at Highlands coffee shops will have a chance to win prizes offered by Mercure Hotel Chain.


Mercure Hotel brand name will be introduced at around 70 Highlands coffee shops in cities nationwide, said Raphaela T.Galang, Viet Thai International Company’s Retail Director.
