On April 20, the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, Huynh Dam, visited General Vo Nguyen Giap to mark the 35th anniversary of the liberation of south Vietnam.

On behalf of the VFF, Mr Dam expressed his organisation’s pride and profound gratitude towards General Giap who, together with the Party and late President Ho Chi Minh, led the entire army and people to bring the 1945 August Revolution to success, establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) and achieve the great victory at Dien Bien Phu and the Great Victory in Spring 1975 that culminated in the complete liberation of south Vietnam and national unification.

Mr Dam wished Mr Giap good health and longevity to set a shining example for future Vietnamese generations to follow.

General Giap thanked the VFF as well as the army and people throughout the country for their deep sentiments towards him and wished that the VFF would further enhance its role in the cause of national unity, national construction and defence.
