Liveshow highlights nation’s love for Uncle Ho

A liveshow simultaneously televised on the night of May 19 from three locations across Vietnam presented a moving depiction of President Ho Chi Minh, a son of the nation who has devoted his whole life for national independence and people’s happiness.

The show was broadcast live from the Presidential Palace in Hanoi, the Sen Village in central Nghe An province – the place of birth of Uncle Ho and Nha Rong wharf in Ho Chi Minh City, where he departed in 1911 to find ways to free the nation from colonial oppression.

Entitle “Following Uncle’s Journey”, the liveshow was jointly held by the Vietnam Television and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

It is among a series of activities to celebrate the 120 th birthday of Uncle Ho and the 20 th anniversary of the UNESCO recognition of the late President as a hero of national liberalisation and a preeminent man of culture.

Present at the show were Politburo members and Secretaries of the Party Committees as well as officials of the government, Hanoi , Nghe An province and Ho Chi Minh City .

The liveshow at three places of great importance in Ho Chi Minh’s life put together a clear picture of Uncle Ho with rich and vivid details through documentaries, photos, his belongings and stories told by witnesses who had met the late President.

It looked back on the historical landmark in the life of President Ho Chi Minh, when he left the country in 1911, starting a 30-year journey from countries to countries to find ways of liberating the nation.

Having found the right way, he returned in 1941 and led the national revolution the victory of which gave birth to the democratic republic of Vietnam in 1945. The name of Vietnam thus first appeared on the world map. After that, the President continued to lead Vietnam ’s people and armed forces through nine years of struggle against the French colonialists to the final victory with the world resounding Dien Bien Phu battle.

The audience also got new insight into the president’s simple life and his profound love and compassion towards the people and humankind through the display of things that he used in his daily life as well as stories told by those who had had chances to meet the beloved leader, including a long-time bodyguard and a barber who did his haircut.

120 candles were lid in each place of the liveshow and songs were sung to praise Uncle Ho, who lives forever in the mind of every Vietnamese.
