People with disabilities get new hair-styles

QĐND – Thursday, May 20, 2010, 20:58 (GMT+7)

Some 100 people with disabilities across Hanoi joined an exchange with 15 Japanese hair stylists from the Henkel Company held in the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology on May 20th.

After the exchange, organised by the Hanoi Independent Living Center for the Disabled, professional hair stylists offered free haircuts to the participants.

Besides, a short-time vocational training course would be opened for any disabled who are keen on hairdressing and hair style.

The Hanoi Independent Living Center for the Disabled has hosted a number of events to encourage and create more opportunities for the disabled to integrate into the community and to get practical experience.

Japanese hair stylist exchange with Hanoians and with people with disabilities is part of the Japanese guests’ first voluntary activities in Vietnam.

Henkel Company, a branch of Schwarzkopf Professional, is well-known for not only its products, but also its social activities including voluntary journeys, free hair-dressing training courses for the disabled, poor youths and street children in developing countries.
