PANO – In the first seven months of this year, Ho Chi Minh City received 1.7 million tourists, including 188,000 foreigners, an increase of 13% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 60% of this year’s target, according to the HCMC’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Department.

HCMC attracted foreign tourists, mainly from the US – the city’s key tourist market, as well as Japan, South Korea, Australia, China, France, Singapore, Malaysia and Canada.

In all, 2.91 million foreign tourists, mainly for holiday and tourism, visited Vietnam in the first seven months.

In particular, the number of Chinese tourists increased by 95.6%, followed by Thais and South Koreans.

Most of the foreign tourists to Vietnam chose eco-tourism or tours to explore Vietnamese culture.
