Southern region to turn cold

The Southern Regional Hydro Meteorological Center has said, the cold front from the north has spread into southern Vietnam and it is forecast that the weather will turn cold on December 17 and 18.

The mercury will drop to 18-20 Celsius degrees in Ho Chi Minh City and adjacent provinces of Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc.

Meanwhile, the cold front has caused medium to heavy rains and it is very cold in the northern region, according to the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center.

On Thursday morning, the northeasterly winds peaked categories 8-9, 62-88 kilometers an hour, in the Gulf of Tonkin. The seas were very rough.

Affected by the cold front, several places in central areas have also experienced medium to torrential rains. Northern mountainous provinces have suffered extreme cold and frost.

It will continue to affect coastal areas from Da Nang City to Binh Thuan Province, and then cover some portions in the Central Highlands and the southern regions.
