Hanoi presents nearly 200 billion VND to social beneficiaries

PANO – The Hanoi People’s Committee has spent more than 195 billion VND on Tet presents for 733,133 wounded soldiers, martyrs’ families, veterans, elderly people, and other needy people in the city.


Meanwhile delegations from the city’s authorities will visit and present gifts to 97 social groups and 87 families of social beneficiaries on the Lunar New Year holidays.


On this occasion, various meaningful activities have been launched to support social beneficiaries in the city. Some art performances have been held to raised funds from individuals and businesses to sponsor for social programs.

Meaningful activities launched for social beneficiaries

PANO – On the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27th), various meaningful activities have been launched nationwide to support families of martyrs and wounded soldiers.


On July 26th, General Le Van Dung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Director of the Vietnam People’s Army General Political Department, visited and presented gifts to wounded and sick soldiers who are under treatment at the Military Hospital No110 in the northern province of Bac Ninh. The General praised efforts of staff of the hospital and the centre and wished wounded and sick soldiers a speedy recovery.


The Naval Service has presented 5 houses of gratitude to social beneficiaries, with officers and soldiers of the service also visiting and presenting gifts to wounded soldiers at three recuperation centers in Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and Ha Nam provinces.


Similarly, the Military Zone 3 has completed and presented 16 houses of gratitude to social beneficiaries in Hai Duong, Thai Binh and Ninh Binh provinces, while Military Zone also reburied 5 set of remains of martyrs who sacrificed their lives in Laos.


The High Command of Military Zone 4 has held a ceremony to rebury 427 sets of remains of Vietnamese martyrs from Cambodia at martyr cemeteries in Dong Thap and An Giang provinces.


On this occasion, all army units have launched various activities to help local social beneficiaries.


So far, unions and organisations nationwide have launched 32,516 programs and activities to support Vietnamese heroic mothers, wounded soldiers, families of martyrs and other social beneficiaries.

More activities launched for social beneficiaries

PANO – On the 63rd Anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27th), the Military Hospital 5 under Military Zone 3’s Logistics Department worked with agencies in the northern province of Ninh Binh to provide free healthcare and medicines to 500 people and presented gifts, worth VND 40 million, to local social beneficiaries.


As part of a program of the Vietnam Association for the Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, the Military Hospital 103 under the Military Medical Institute sent nearly 20 delegations of doctors to provide check-ups and treatment to AO victims in many provinces nationwide.


On July 25th, the Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank), in conjunction with agencies and organisations in the southern province of Tay Ninh held a ceremony to offer incense to martyrs who were buried at the local martyrs’ cemetery. On this occasion, the bank gave a budget to local authorities to revamp the cemetery.


A delegation from the Infantry Officer Training College No1 presented gifts to wounded and sick soldiers at a rehabilitation center in Duy Tien District, Ha Nam Province. They also provided free healthcare and medicines to 200 social beneficiaries in Son Tay and Thach That districts in Hanoi.


On July 25th, the construction of a gratitude house for a social-policy family in Duc Co District, Gia Lai Province, was started. The house is part of a program by the Saigon Liberation Newspaper to build 50 houses for social beneficiaries in the area.

PANO – On the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the  War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27), the representatives of Education Publishing House handed over 2,230 textbooks to the children of martyrs and wounded soldiers in the 7 provinces of Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, Dac Lac and Dac Nong.


Reference books were also presented to 8 libraries in the Phu Yen, Lam Dong and Dac Lac provinces.


Over the past three years, the Education Publishing House has presented 210,000 textbooks worth 21 billion VND to the children of martyrs and wounded soldiers and built 113 houses of gratitude for social beneficiaries.


* The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee has launched a program in response to the 63rd anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day. Various activities including caring for Vietnamese heroic mothers, presenting gifts to the relatives of martyrs and wounded soldiers, providing free healthcare to social beneficiaries, cleaning up the environment and redecorating the martyrs’ burial plots, statues, as well as historic and cultural relics.
