US$45 million complex to be built in HCMC

South Korea’s Cantavil Real Estate Development Company has announced that it will work with Vietnam’s Southern Seed Joint Stock Company (SSC) to build a complex building in Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City.


The US$45 million project will have a 17-storey building to house 243 apartments with an area of 87sq.m to 162 sq.m each, a trading center, services and office areas.


It is projected that the project will receive permits for its construction in the second quarter of 2011.


Cantavil currently owns five real-estate projects in Vietnam, of which two apartment buildings in District 2 and Binh Thanh, HCMC, were completed, while other three complexes are under construction in Long Hai-Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Da Nang and Hanoi.

Three more bridges to be built in Western Hanoi

Hanoi will build three more bridges, namely Zet, Yen Vy and My Hoa, in the western suburbs of the city, according to the Hanoi Transport Department, which has been entrusted to manage the investment in the projects.


Zet Bridge, costing nearly VND 50 billion will be built in Chuong My District, while Yen Vy Bridge, with VND 29 billion of investment, is in My Duc, near the renowned Huong Pagoda.


My Hoa Bridge, the largest one, costing VND 152 billion will connect the two banks of the Day River in the districts of My Duc and Ung Hoa. Under the design, the bridge will be modern and architecturally suitable to the panorama and environment.


According to the investment manager, all the preparations will be finished by March 2011 and the projects will then be started.


The City’s officials stated that the construction of the bridges will ease the current traffic congestion, assist local people’s transportation and contribute to local socio-economic development and tourism.

Clinic to be built for ethnic minority’s healthcare

The organization of “Nghia tinh Truong Son” (Sentimental Attachment for Truong Son Road), Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper, and the border guards in the central province of Nghe An broke ground for a clinic on November 24.


The VND1 billion (US$49000) clinic sponsored by the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group through the Nghia tinh Truong Son program was built in the mountainous district Con Cuong in Nghe An for healthcare service for over 60 ethnic minority people Dan Lai who live separately in the National park Pu Mat.


Mr. Tran The Tuyen, Editor – in – chief of Sai Gon Giai Phong, said the fund for the program was raised to repay veterans and voluntary youths including ethnic minority Dan Lai who fought and worked on the Truong Son Road, also known as the Ho Chi Minh trail, during the war, but now live in poverty on the eastern and western sides of the Truong Son mountain range.


On the behalf of border guard headquarter, colonel Nguyen Van Tuy promised to construct a high quality clinic and it will be soon operated to provide healthcare to inhabitants in the mountainous district.

Storm rescue center to be built on Ly Son Island

A rescue center will be built on Ly Son Island in the central province of Quang Ngai to seek and save people in the rainstorm season, according to Colonel Bui Phu Phu, deputy commander the provincial Border Guard Command.

The rescue center covering on an area of 5,000 square meters in An Hai Commune will be equipped with modern facilities with an investment capital of more than VND100 billion (US$5 million).

The center will focus on building 2300-CV rescue ships that can be sent out during hurricanes.

The rescue center is expected to be put into operation in 2012.

The Khang Thong Group announced US$2 billion Happyland entertainment complex at a press briefing in Hanoi on September 6.

The government approved the project last year. The 338 ha complex located in Long An province will be a combination of local and modern features along with exhibition, trade centers, 3-5 star hotels, water park, dance hall, indoor and outdoor theatres, cultural center, art museum and urban area.


The project will boost service industry in the region and generate about 10,000 jobs for local residents.


The entertainment complex is scheduled to commence next January and to open to public in April, 2014.

1,588 bridges to be built in Can Tho

PANO – This year, the southern province of Ca Mau is planning to build 1,588 bridges, as part of the “Dream Bridge” project to improve the network of roads in the area.


Due to intense waterways, local residents in the coastal province always find it hard to travel. In particular, 50% of communes and one district have no access to the provincial town.


Priority will be given to the construction of bridges to link all these localities in the province.


So far, 900 out of 2,500 bridges under the project have been completed, and the remainder will be built at a cost of VND 452 billion, which will be financed by different sources.


Once completed, these bridges will upgrade the road network and help the province to develop socio-economically.

105 houses of great unity built for ethnic minority people

PANO – The Vietnam Father Front Committee of the central Thua Thien-Hue Province, in conjunction with Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) and People’s Committee of A Luoi District, on July 18th, started the construction of 105 houses, worth VND28.5 billion each, for ethnic minority people in Hong Thuy Commune, A Luoi District, Thua Thien-Hue Province.


The project will help 105 households, whose houses were destroyed by typhoon 9 in 2009 in Hong Thuy Communes, return to normal and overcome poverty. Also on this occasion, representatives of the VietinBank branch in Thua Thien-Hue and the provincial leaders presented gifts to families of social policy and two Vietnam heroic mothers in the province.

A large eco-tourism area named ‘Bau Ca Na’ will be built in Hiep Tan Commune, Hoa Thanh District in the southern province of Tay Ninh by the Hung Duy Trading Import Export Transportation Company.


The resort will be built on an area of 5 hectares at a cost of VND130 billion.


Once completed in 2010, the Bau Ca Na area will include entertainment and sports facilities, conference centres, shopping centres, restaurants and other luxury facilities at the service of tourists who are visiting other tourist sites in the province.


Tay Ninh has many famous tourist sites such as Dau Tieng Lake, Ba Den Mountain, Binh Thanh Old Tower and the Lo Go – Xa Mat National Park.
