North Thien Cam tourist area to be constructed

The Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee has allowed Thien Cam Development and Investment Joint-stock Company to build the North Thien Cam Tourist Area.


Under the project, a number of structures, including a trade area, coastal service and shopping site, art performance area, family hostels, hi-class villas, entertainment area, hotels and resorts, will be built at a cost of VND 11trillion, of which VND 289 billion will be for the first phase (2010-2013), while the remainder for the second phase that ends in 2017.


Construction of the North Thien Cam Tourist Area within the national standards requires land clearance and detailed planning to be promptly implemented.

Authorities set to turn Cam Ranh town into city

On December 23, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung signed decision No 65/NP-CP, turning Cam Ranh Town into a city, which is in the central province of Khanh Hoa.

Cam Ranh has a population of around 130,000 households and covers an area of more than 30,000ha.


The city has a deep-water bay with many beautiful beaches and it is some 30km away from the coastal city of Nha Trang.


The Khanh Hoa People’s Committee has approved a planning project to develop Cam Ranh. This will start now until 2025.


In addition, Cam Ranh airport became an international airport with the opening of an official direct air route linking Cam Ranh and Vladivostock in Russia last December.


The national aviation sector invested more than VND200 billion in building a new terminal, air traffic control station, a modern runway lights and other facilities in Cam Ranh Airport. The capacity of the new terminal doubles the old one which was only capable of loading 300 passengers per hour.


Khanh Hoa has currently two big cities including Nha Trang and Cam Ranh, and a town called Ninh Hoa.

First commercial flight from Far East lands at Cam Ranh

The first commercial flight from Vladivostok city, Russia , by the Russian carrier Vladivostok Air landed at the Cam Ranh international airport in the central province of Khanh Hoa on Dec. 15.


Another flight left Cam Ranh for Vladivostok the same day, marking the launch of a direct air route between the two cities.


The airline said two similar flights will be conducted between another Far East city, Khabarov and Cam Ranh on Dec. 16.


According to Vladivostok Air, 14 flights will be conducted on the two routes from mid-December through to March, with two flights every two weeks in the immediate future. The airline will use TU 240 aircraft on the routes, which target Russian tourists who want to escape from serve winter in the Far East . Khanh Hoa boats the famous resort city of Nha Trang with warm weather and sunny beaches.


Cam Ranh Airport ’s authorities pledged to halve the charges on landing and services for Vladivostok Air in the initial period.


Nearly 10 four and five star hotels and resorts in Nha Trang have also agreed to reduce their prices by between 20-50 percent for Russian tourists flying to Nha Trang on the new routes.


Cam Ranh Airport became an international airport in December 2009 and has recorded an average annual growth rate in passenger numbers of 21 percent, the highest rate in Vietnam.

Vietnam builds Cam Ranh port by itself

PANO – “Vietnam has decided to build Cam Ranh port by its own resources,” said Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in a press conference in Hanoi on October 30th.


The press conference was held after the 17th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits concluded successfully in Hanoi.


Answering the People’s Army Newspaper Online question about the construction of the Cam Ranh port, the prime minister said that Vietnam planned to build a service complex in this port to supply resources for the Vietnamese Navy.


The prime minister also said that Vietnam, is willing to provide services, like other countries in the world, for naval ships from every country, including submarines, when they request.


Vietnam will also consider to sign contracts with Russian businesses which meet the technical demands on providing consultancy for constructing the port.

Non-stop flights between Vladivostok and Cam Ranh

From December 15th, 2010 to March 24th, 2011, Vladivostok Air, a Russian airline, will conduct 15 non-stop flights from Vladivostok and Khabarovsk, two large cities in the Russian Far East region, to Cam Ranh International Airport, using the Tupolev TU204 or Airbus A330, the airline revealed at a working session with the Khanh Hoa Provincial  People’s Committee in Nha Trang City on October 13th.


During the talks, relevant businesses in Khanh Hoa Province also promised to offer 50% discount in service prices for Vladivostok Air and at least 20% discount in hotel room prices for international tourists on those flights.


With its warm climate and beautiful beach, Nha Trang has become a popular destination for tens of thousands of Russian tourists since the 1980s, particularly those from Siberia and the Far East region.

Cam Ranh airport starts international flights

More than 1,400 visitors from the Republic of Korea will land at Cam Ranh International airport in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa between July 24 and August 24 for a three-day visit to the area.


According to the Vietnam Airlines office in Nha Trang, this will be the first time Vietnam Airlines will have flown tourists from Seoul’s Incheon airport to Cam Ranh.


The provincial Khanh Hoa authorities met on June 24 to discuss the preparations for the launch of the international service to Cam Ranh airport.


They will also meet with representatives of international carriers in Vietnam as well as domestic and overseas tour operators and accommodation providers to discuss the new service.


According to the Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, many three to five-star hotels in Nha Trang have agreed to offer a 30-50 percent discount on rooms for visitors arriving on international flights in the next year.
