Hanoi, Beijing youths sign cooperation deal

QĐND – Tuesday, January 11, 2011, 21:34 (GMT+7)

Youth unions of Hanoi and Beijing signed an agreement on bilateral cooperation for the 2011- 2013 period, following their talks in the Vietnamese capital city on Jan. 10.

Under the terms of the agreement, the two sides will join hands in training young activists and organising cultural exchanges, seminars on the youth union building work and voluntary activities.

As many as 50 young people from each country are expected to participate in annual exchanges in Hanoi and Beijing, where they will share experiences in youth work and strengthen their solidarity and friendship.

Later in the day, the delegation from the municipal Beijing Committee of the Communist Youth League of China was received by Ngo Thi Doan Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People’s Council of Hanoi.

Thanh spoke highly of the exchanges and cooperation between the two cities’ youth unions, and expressed her hope that their relations would be developed to a new level.

Friendship concert marks cooperation relations between Vietnam and

A ‘friendship concert’ featuring Chinese and Vietnamese musicians will take place at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music on December 12.

The concert will present music lovers with sweet melodies from compositions including: Flying Partridge; Song of the Chu Kingdom; Song of Zhaojun; Milou River Carriccio; Fishing Birds Playing on Water; Fishermen’s Song at Dusk; and Flower music.

Musicians of the China Conservatory of Music and Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music will join the event.

The music show aims to mark the development and cooperation for better relations between China and Vietnam.

Vietnam treasures cooperation with Japan

Vietnam always attaches importance to developing cooperation with Japan, especially in economics, trade and investment, and creates favourable conditions for Japanese investors to operate effectively in the country. 

Politburo member and standing member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee Truong Tan Sang made the statement while receiving President of the Japan-Vietnam Economic Committee Kato Susumu and President of the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (JFEO) Kyohei Takahashi in Hanoi on December 10. 

Mr Sang spoke highly of the results of the implementation of the Japan-Vietnam Joint Initiative as well as active contributions by the JFEO and the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam to building a safe and attractive investment environment in the country. 

He expressed his belief that the Japanese side will continue to closely coordinate with Vietnamese authorized agencies to effectively implement agreed cooperation contents. 

For their part, the Japanese guests emphasized the positive results of a conference on the Japan-Vietnam Joint Initiative in the third phase (WT1-3) with proposals to improve Vietnam’s competitiveness and expand Japanese investment in Vietnam, including stabilizing the macro economy and improving tax policies, human resource training quality and transport systems as well as developing support industries. 

The two presidents said the Japan-Vietnam Joint Initiative was a practical cooperation mechanism that should be effectively implemented, helping improve the quality of the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries’ businesses.

Vietnam, Japan’s universities expand cooperation

Japan’s Kumamoto University has signed with three Vietnamese universities an agreement on academic and students exchange.

The signing took place in Hanoi recently in the framework of a forum themed “Academic Collaboration for Asian Development and Prosperity”.

The three Vietnamese universities are the Construction University , the Hue National University and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

At the forum, the eighth of its kind, students from Kumamoto University and its Vietnamese partners took part in a scientific research contest with the first prize went to students from the Civil Engineering faculty under the HCM City University of Technology.

Strengthening Vietnam-Mongolia cooperation

Vietnam hopes to expand cooperation with Mongolia in all fields, said State President Nguyen Minh Triet at a meeting with Chairman of the Mongolian Parliament, Demberel Damdin, on December 15.

President Triet highly appreciated Mr. Damdin’s official visit, saying it will open up new prospects for promoting traditional friendship between the two countries.

Mr. Damdin reported to Mr. Triet the outcomes of the his working session with Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA), Nguyen Phu Trong, during which both parties signed a cooperation agreement between the two parliaments and witnessed the signing of cooperation deals between the two parliamentary offices and agriculture ministries of the two countries.

He also expressed his delight at the significant economic development of Vietnam and hoped to boost cooperation with the country.
