Young fashion designers to take part in Hong Kong Fashion Week

Nguyen Thi Diem My and Ha Nhat Tien, the two winners of the Aquafina Pure Fashion 2010 contest, will be Vietnam’ representatives at the Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2011.

These two young fashion designers have improved their designs in accordance with international fashion trends. They hope to present a new look of Vietnamese fashion and young designers’ ability.

The annual Aquafina Pure Fashion design competition, launched by PepsiCo, aims to discover young talented fashion designers in Vietnam.

Hong Kong Fashion Week for the Fall/Winter will take place from January 10-17 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. It is hoped that this convention will present to the world the latest trends of the fashion industry, and promote a wealth of business opportunities.

Visitors will have a chance to enjoy the latest collections from famous brand names such as Vivienne Westwood, MANGO, Fontani, Lacompel Di Landi Andrea, Moda Immagine, Moiselle and Rabeanco.

This is second largest fashion fair in the world and it is expected to gather over 1,700 suppliers of garments, accessories and fashion-related products.

French and Vietnamese fashion designers to celebrate Hanoi’s 1000th birthday

A special fashion show featuring French and Vietnamese designs will be held in Hanoi on November 3 to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi.

The fashion show will take place at Hanoi Opera House on November 3.

Fashion lovers will have a chance to enjoy latest collections of France’s famous designers including Ambrym, Charabia, Christophe Josse and Dormeuil and Vietnamese leading designers Sy Hoang, Do Manh Cuong, Hoang Hai, Kelly Bui and Le Ha.

The event is directed by French choreographer Fanny de Chaillé and musician Christophe Chassol
In related news, the 9th annual Dep (beauty) Fashion Show will be held in The Garden Shopping Mall in Hanoi on October 31.

Annual fashion show to be held in Hanoi

The 9th annual Dep (beauty) Fashion Show will be held in The Garden Shopping Mall in Hanoi on October 31.

This year’s show themed “Dreaming” will focus on the social reality and aspiration to escape from reality.

The performance will feature collections such as “Migration” by German fashion designer Juliane Kunze, “The tale” and “Imaginative world” by local designers Luu Anh Tuan and Kelly Bui.

Started in 2004, Dep Fashion Show is a playing field for local and foreign fashion designers in the country.

Vietnam’s top models and artists will join the show directed by Le Vu Long.

Short documentaries of the fashion performance’s production progress will be broadcast weekly on VCTV1 channel on Friday at 9 pm.

Miss Fashion and Miss Ao Dai announced

Beauties of Ho Chi Minh City Ninh Thi Hoang Ngan and Pham Thi Thuy Linh respectly won Miss Fashion and Miss Ao Dai of the 2010 Miss Vietnam Global Pageant on August 16.

Both of them are students. They will receive a cash prize of VND30 million (US$1,500) each and prioritized ranks among the top 15 beauties entering the final night of the contest.

Contestant Nguyen Thanh Huyen from Russia won Miss Talent with her dance entitled “The Orient” on August 14.

She received a prioritized rank as the second, after Miss Sport Pham Thuy Vy Victoria, among the top 15 beauties of the final night of the contest.

Hairstyles of ancient Hanoi’s women

The Davines Hairshow 2010, featuring Vietnamese hairstyles, will be held in Hanoi on July 31.

This year’s theme of “So near, so far” will bring images hairstyles seen on roads, street corners and women of ancient Hanoi to the audience through various art forms including dance, music, fine arts and movies.

Veteran hair stylists such as Minh Tam, Hong Phuong, Hai Linh, Tran Hung, and young designers Justin Manh, Pham Hoang Anh, Pham Dinh Khanh Duy and Do Duy Tung are set to participate.
The hair fashion show, organized by Davines, one of Italy’s leading hair care companies, aims to honor the beauty of contemporary women’s hairstyles and has been held previously in a variety of beautiful cities around the world since 1996.

Vietnam International Fashion Fair 2010 focuses on green environment

The annual Vietnam International Fashion Fair 2010 (VIFF 2010) promoting local garment and textile companies to domestic and foreign partners will take place at the Ho Chi Minh City International Exhibition and Convention Center from July 3 to 9.

Vietnam International Fashion Fair 2010 will take place at HCMC Interntional Exhibition and Convention Center from July 3 to 9. 

The cotton tree, which has been regarded as a main material in clothing production for hundreds of years, has been chosen as the subject for the 8th annual event’s theme of “Green environment.”

The week-long fair also aims to present images of the organizers, which include the Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex), the Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas) and the Leather and Footwear Association (Lefaso).

The fair is a chance for local garment and textile firms to advertise the quality of their trademarks to local consumers and foreign partners. It also highlights the export potential of Vietnam’s garment and textile industry to world leaders in the garment and textile trade.

150 companies with 350 booths including leading garment makers like Viet Tien, Viet Thang, Phuong Dong, Phong Phu and Nha Be will join the event and will exhibit their high-quality products at nightly fashion shows.

There will be seminars on topics such as 2011 fashion trends, building fashion brands, developing distribution systems in Vietnam and growing cotton.

VN Fashion Week set HCMC style-philes

Twenty-two Vietnamese designers showcases over 1,000 fashions at the French Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City December 11-12.

Vietnam Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 is the biggest fashion show in the country and the event marks Vietnam’s entrance into the Asian Fashion Federation.

The French Consulate General in HCM City, Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex), Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas), Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association (Lefaso), and the Vietnam Fashion and Design Institute (Fadin) are organizing the event.

Local fashion designers Trong Nguyen, Thien Trang and Ngoc Dieu will present more than 100 fashions from top-name brands such as Sanciaro, Mahattan, T-up, and Viettien Smart Casual on December 11. New collections from many other Vietnamese designers including Quang Huy, Hien Le, and Minh Minh will also be exhibited on the day.

On December 12, Hong Vuong, Van Khoa and Bich Ha of the Viet Thang Textile Company; and Minh Hanh, Cuong Thinh, and Nhat Huy among others, will introduce their latest collections.

“Most designs are created using 3D technology,” said fashion designer Minh Hanh, director of Fadin in HCM City. “Designers learned the technique in courses which were held by the Paris Fashion Institute in the country.”

The event will open with a ballet performance by Linh Nga on a stage decorated with 8,000 yellow roses in the garden of the French Consulate General.

More than 40 models in Hanoi and HCM City will take part in the event.

Hanoi student wins national fashion contest

Huynh Hai Long, a graduate of the Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema, November 21 won the top prize worth VND50 million (US$2,500) at the Viet Nam Collection Grand Prix 2009, the largest national fashion design competition.

The award ceremony of the 11th annual contest for young, up-and-coming designers was held at the Quan Ngua Sporting Hall in Hanoi.

Other awards including “Future Designer” and “Best Material” went to Vo Thi Quynh Nhu, 19, of Ho Chi Minh City. Nguyen Manh Hao, a graduate of the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts, won the “Fashion Designer of the Year” and “Impression” titles.

The judging panel comprised well-known domestic and foreign designers including Francine Pairon, creative director at the French Mode Institute; Leslie Davis Burns, chair of the Design and Human Environment Department at Oregon State University (OSU); Valerie Bannister of the London College of Fashion (UK); and Minh Hanh, director of the Vietnam Fashion Design Institute (FADIN).

Vietnam to join Asian Fashion Federation

Vietnam is set to become the sixth member of the Asian Fashion Federation at its annual meeting to be held in Hanoi on November 22, said Le Quoc An, chairman of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association.

This year’s meeting, themed “Asian Fashion-A World Fashion Class Hub,” will feature special collections by designers from the six member-countries at a ceremony that will be broadcast live on Vietnam television’s channels 9 and 4.

The Asian Fashion Federation was established in 2002 following an agreement between Japan, Korea, and China. Singapore and Thailand joined up in 2007 and 2008.

Singaporeans, Vietnamese work together to present autumn fashion

HCM City, once again, will warm up during the cool season of early fall with a fashion show, “Newurbanmale Night,” September 11. The show is a fresh wind for the local fashion industry thanks to the exchange between Vietnam and Singapore.

The show features five models from Singapore and ten models from Vietnam. The names of the models have not been revealed, as the organizers hope it will be a big surprise for visitors.
The Singapore models will bring new styles of presentation from the Singapore catwalk, while the Vietnamese models are challenged with reaching a higher professional level.
The Vietnamese models will also receive some help from Singaporean professional stylists.
Organizers said sharing and enjoying fashion ideas is the main aim of the show.
The three latest summer/autumn collections by Newurbanmale will be presented.
The show also features appearances by boyband La Thang, singers Khang Luan and Khanh Vy, actor Nam Cuong and actress Diem My.
Tickets are available at the Newurbanmale outlet in District 1 and cost VND200,000 (US$11).
The show starts at 8.30pm and held at 4IN1 Bar, District 6.
