Vietnam to host final round of Asia U19 Women’s Football Champs

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) granted Vietnam clearance to host the final round of the Asia U19 Women’s Football Championship 2011.


The championship will take place from October 6 to 16, 2011.


After successfully competing in the second qualifying round, the Vietnamese U19 team will enter the final round with five others – Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, China and Australia.


Vietnam will announce the match-ups in the near future.

Vietnam to host U19 Women Football Championships 2011

Vietnam has just been entrusted by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to host the final round of the U19 Women Football Champion 2011, according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).


The final round will kick off on October 6th, 2011 and last until October 16th.


The Vietnamese U19 Female Football team will take part in the event after it successfully finished the second round.


The 5 other teams that will play in the final round include Japan, the Republic of Korea, the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea, China and Australia.


Vietnamese officials expect that the Vietnamese female footballers will reap good fruits when they play in Vietnam as the host team.

VFF Int’l Football Cup to open

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) International Football Cup 2010 will kick off at My Dinh National Stadium on November 2-6.


Teams from Singapore, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), the Republic of Korea (RoK) and host Vietnam will participate in the event.


As scheduled, the foreign teams will arrive in Hanoi on October 30, two days before the first match.


To ensure the best quality for the biggest friendly tournament this year and in preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010, the organising board has planned to invite FIFA-level referees to oversee the matches.


The main group of referees includes Mahapab Chaiya Alee from Thailand and two Vietnamese, Hoang Anh Tuan and Phung Dinh Dung. Personal assistants to the referees will be Wetchakan Atthakorn and Pansakorn Manop from Thailand, and Nguyen Ngoc Ha and Nguyen Phong Vu from Vietnam.


The fourth referee is Wongkamdee Porached from Thailand and the referee supervisor is Mohd Jamil Bin Zakaria from Malaysia.

National Student Football tournament kicks off

The final round of the National Student Football Tournament took place on October 28th at the Chi Lang Stadium in Da Nang City with the participation of 16 teams from universities nationwide.


These teams will play in a round-robin format in four groups to select the two best ones of each group for the semi-final. The final match will be played on November 7th.


Teams from the Hanoi Polytechnic University, the Da Nang University, the Ho Chi Minh City Sports and Physical Training Pedagogy University and the Thai Nguyen University are regarded as the strongest ones.


The ongoing event aims to motivate the sport activities of university and college students nationwide.

Vietnam’s national women’s football team actively prepares for ASIAD 16

After a one week training course in Tam Dao, Vietnam’s women’s football team returned to the Vietnam Young Footballer Training Centre on October 23 to prepare for the 16th Asian Games (ASIAD) to be held in Guangzhou, China.


Three matches will be held under the direction of Coach Tran Van Phat on October 25, 27 and 29 to hone playing skills and select the best players. Mr Phat said a list of 18 footballers will be named and they will leave for Guangzhou, to train from November 1-11.


Later, the team will join ASIAD athletes to prepare for the qualifying rounds for berths in the semi-finals.


Vietnam’s women’s team will be in Group A with the Republic of Korea, Jordan and China. The two strongest teams in each group will enter the semi-final round.

Young Vietnamese players to compete at regional football tournament

The Vietnamese U19 National Squad will play Jordan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Japan at the final round of the Asian U19 Football Championship 2010.


At 4.30pm on October 4 in China, the young Vietnamese players play their first match with Jordan, a strong team in the region.


This is the first time the Vietnamese U19 squad will play at the final round of the football tournament, however, the team will try to earn 3 points from its first match.


According to coach Trieu Quang Ha, the squad, with young players gathered from national tournaments, have prepared carefully for the upcoming matches played last month, and he hoped that the team will try its best during the tournament.


Earlier, the Vietnam U19 squad won two matches and drew one against the Korean U19 squad, said to be one of the best teams in the region.

Vietnam draws football with Thailand

Hosts Vietnam drew with Thailand 1-1 in their first match at the ASEAN Football Federation’s U19 Football Championship in HCM City on July 24.


The unexpected draw created enormous difficulties for Vietnam , as they have to play tough rivals Australia and the Republic of Korea (RoK) in the following matches.


In the opening game of the same day, Australia defeated RoK 1-0.


The tournament will last until July 30.


Both Vietnam and Thailand have qualified for the final round of the Asian U19 Football Championship in China in October.
