Model Chung Thuc Quyen attends Miss International pageant 2010

Model Chung Thuc Quyen will travel to China for the Miss International pageant 2010 to take place in Chengdu, Sichuan Province from October 21 to November 7.

Quyen has gained a lot of useful experience in previous international pageants.


She won Miss Humanity title at the Miss Tourism Queen International 2008, Best National Dress, Miss Internet, and was in the top 15 at the Miss Supranational 2009 pageant in Poland.


Fashion designers Quynh Paris will prepare evening gowns for the model. She will also wear Vietnamese traditional ao dai by Thuan Viet.


Quyen will compete with beauties from 80 countries at the 50th annual event.


Previously Pham Thuy Duong who was in top ten at the Miss Vietnam 2006 pageant won the Miss International Image title at the Miss International pageant 2007.

Miss Vietnam Global 2010 pageant kicks off

The final round of Miss Vietnam Global 2010 pageant kicked off with competition for a minor title, “Miss Photo,” at Vinpearl Land Resort and Spa in Nha Trang.

(Photo: Vnexpress)As planed, 42 contestants from around the country and foreign countries will ride bicycles on Tran Phu Street on August 11 to support the program, “For Vietnamese clear blue sea,” and take part in beach clean up activities.

The young women then will compete for other minor titles including Miss Sport on August 12, Miss Talent on 14, Miss Fashion on 16 and Miss Sea on 17.


In related news, Nguyen Thi Loan from the northern province of Thai Binh, won the Miss Sea title, the first sub-competition of the Miss Vietnam 2010 pageant at Tuan Chau resort in Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh Province on August 7.


Loan, 1.74m tall, is a student at the Hanoi Commerce University. She was a volleyball player. With this title, Loan will receive a prioritized rank as the first among the top ten beauties due to enter the finale on August 21.


Meanwhile Bich Tram from Dong Nai Province won Miss Talent title with her paper-fan dance on August 9.


Tram, 20, is a student of Lac Hong University and human ambassador of the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross. She won the silver medal at the HCM City Model Competition 2009 and is presently an amateur model in HCM City.


Tram will receive a cash prize of VND50 million (US$2,500). However, this title does not guarantee Tram entrance to the finals.

Vietnam wins fourth runner-up at Miss Model pageant

Model Nguyen Ngoc Lan Huong was named the fourth runner-up in the Miss Model of The World 2009 beauty contest held in China from November 9-29.

Huong also won two other titles including “Miss Model of Best in Evening Gown” and “Top 10 Media Poll”.


The model said she was extremely proud and happy to represent her country and thanked everyone for supporting her during the competition.


The top winner of Miss Model of the World 2009 was Emene Nyame of France. The first, second and third runners-up went respectively to Deyra Cimen of Turkey, Iuliia Galichenko of Ukraine, and Edelyn Cedeno Pena from the Dominican Republic.

Mrs. World Pageant 2009 kicks off

The opening ceremony of the Mrs. World Pageant 2009 was held at the Imperial Hotel, Vung Tau, on November 7.


The pageant attracted 78 contestants from 67 countries and territories. Two representatives were from the host country, Vietnam, including Mrs. Vietnam 2009 Hoang Thi Yen and the first runner-up Nguyen Thi Thu Ha.

After contestants introduced themselves, there were many Vietnamese art performances such as A Dao singing, Hue imperial court music, and a folk music performance.


Five contestants from five continents took part in an exchange with guests and expressed their feelings of attending the pageant.


During the pageant, the contestants will have some contests such as talent, sport, charity activities, and documentary film.


The final night will be broadcast live on Vietnam TV and Star World.


A 20-minute film to introduce Vietnam’s image, people, culture and history will be broadcast on Star World and expected to promote the country to viewers in US and 100 other countries around the world.


Mrs. World Pageant is for all married women, young wives and mothers. It has been held since 1977. The contest aims to honor successful women who have made outstanding contributions in their family and society.

Mrs World arrives to grace Vietnam pageant

The 2008 Mrs World, Natalia Shmarenkova, arrived in Vietnam on September 21 for the ongoing Mrs. Vietnam Pageant that wraps up on September 26.

The Ukrainian held a short press conference at HCM City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport and met fashion designer Ngo Nhat Huy to be measured for an ao dai.


She will wear the traditional tunic for the final night of the Mrs. Vietnam Pageant on September 26.


Earlier, she will take part in all activities with the contestants.


Married in 2003, Ms. Shmarenkova is more known as a pop singer and model in Ukraine. She also acted in a Hollywood movie “The accident.”


She promised to return for the 2009 Mrs. World Pageant, also to be held in Vung Tau in November, with her husband, Kyiv Post publisher Mohammad Zahoor.

Mrs. Vietnam pageant begins in Vung Tau

Fifty eight women aged between 21 and 48 are contesting the final of the 2009 Mrs. Vietnam Pageant at the Imperial Hotel in Vung Tau from September 17 to 26.

They will jog, swim, and canoe, play golf, tennis, badminton, and beach volleyball and take part in talent and question-and-answer contests.


They will also compete in swimsuit, evening gown, and ao dai competitions on the final night to be held at the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Multi-function Sport Center on September 26.


Five of the ladies who have won beauty pageants in the past will receive a bye the finals.

They are Nguyen Thi Kim Dung, winner of the 1999 Miss Friendly Vietnam-China event; Dam Thi Ly, winner of the 2006 Miss Central Highland Beauty Contest and the Miss Sport title at the 2006 Miss Vietnam pagean; super model Tran Bao Ngoc, winner of the 1995 Vietnam Model contest; Kathe, winner of the Miss Friendly title at the 2006 Miss Vietnam pageant and first runner-up at the 2006 Miss Central Highland Beauty Contest; and Ngo Huynh Trang, runner-up at the 2002 Dat Mui- Ca Mau Pageant.


The women will also take part in charity activities, offering gifts to inmates at the old-age home in Long Dien District and pay tribute to the statue of heroine Vo Thi Sau at the Martyrs Cemetery, visit the Vung Tau Children Protection Center, and Gia Gia gemstone center where many disabled craftsman work.
