5,500 tonnes of poly propylene to be shipped to Japan

Dung Quat oil refinery is expected to ship 5,500 tonnes of propylene to Japan on Oct. 23.

The country’s first refinery, which is located in the central Quang Ngai province’s Binh Son district, resumed operation on Oct. 1 after 20 days of tackling with a problem with its residue fluid catalytic cracking system.

Its capacity is being raised from 65 percent to 100 percent. At present, 13 out of its 14 technical workshops are operating in a stable condition and turning out eight commercial products and the remaining one which treats sulphur will be operated in the next few days.

To date, the refinery sold 18,500 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas, 55,000 tonnes of A92 petrol, 8,000 tonnes of kerosene, 49,000 tonnes of diesel, 17,000 tonnes of fuel oil and 1,200 tonnes of propylene.

Earlier, the refinery imported an additional 80,000 tonnes of crude to serve its operation at its full capacity by the end of this month.

At full capacity, the refinery will produce annually 1.9 million tonnes of petroleum, 3 million tonnes of diesel, 290,000 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas, 110,000 tonnes of propylene, 410,000 tonnes of jet fuel, and 320,000 tonnes of fuel oil.

Japan firm to buy VN propylene

HA NOI — Truong Van Tuyen, deputy general director of the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and Masayasu Kawasaki, a representative from Japan’s Marubeni Corporation, signed a contract at the Dung Quat oil refinery plant management board’s office yesterday.

Under the contract, Marubeni will buy 75,000-150,000 tonnes of propylene products a year from the Dung Quat oil refinery plant’s polypropylene workshop, that will start operations in 2010. The price of the products will be fixed based on the free on board price (FOB) of propylene products listed on the Stock Exchange of Singapore.

The Dung Quat oil refinery plant will deliver the products to Marubeni at the plant’s seaport after an independent verifier defines the quality of the products.

The plant is responsible to inform Marubeni Corporation of the arrival date and volume of propylene products at least 20 days before delivery. The plant must also provide a preliminary report on the export volume at least one month before delivery.

The Dung Quat oil refinery plant is in its 39th month of construction, and is expected to be operational in February 2009. —

Dung Quat oil refinery to sell propylene to Japan

Quang Ngai (VNA) – Vietnam ’s Dung Quat oil refinery will sell between 75,000-150,000 tonnes of propylene per year to Japanese company Marubeni until 2010.

According to the contract, which was signed in Quang Ngai on September 18, the prices will be determined on the basis of Singapore ’s market. The delivery will be made at the refinery’s port.

The Dung Quat oil refinery, built at an estimated cost of 2.5 billion USD, is expected to be put into operation in February 2009.-
