Representatives from central ministries and departments, Ho Chi Minh City, Nghe An Province and Mekong Delta provinces were also present at the event.

Construction of the Nguyen Sinh Sac relic site began in 1975 and completed two years later.

The site, recognized as the national cultural and historical relic in 1992 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, receives about 300,000 visitors annually.

In December last year, the province began the site’s restoration with a total capital of over VND95 billion (US$4.7 million).

The area now comprises Nguyen Sinh Sac’s tomb, a exhibition house of his life and cause, a flower garden, an Uncle Ho house on stilts, a lotus pond and a corner of Hoa An Village where the late president’s farther treated diseases for the poor and passed away.

Hosts Nghe An beat Dong Thap

QĐND – Monday, July 26, 2010, 21:37 (GMT+7)

Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) scored twice in a space of seven minutes to beat Dong Thap 2-0 in the 21st round of the V-League at Vinh Stadium yesterday, July 25.

Despite being the away team, Dong Thap had begun the match feeling confident after a recent string of wins. The team hoped a win propel them to the top of the rankings.

But SLNA shot those dreams down, earning the victor’s three point to climb out of the middle position in the rankings.

SLNA’s Quang Tinh opened the score in the fourth minute, shooting past goalie Tan Truong of Dong Thap. Motivated by the early goal, SLNA players launched a series of attacks, scoring the second goal in the 11th minute thanks to Trong Nghia.

After the half-time break, the visitors raised their hopes of levelling the score when SLNA’s Huy Hoang received a second yellow card for a clumsy tackle. However, Dong Thap’s attacks were repelled by the hosts’ defenders with both teams failing to score in the second half.

At other V-League matches, Da Nang tied with Ninh Binh 1-1 at Chi Lang Stadium, while two-time champions Hoang Anh Gia Lai lost to Navibank Sai Gon 0-1 at Pleiku Stadium.

Binh Duong lost to Ha Noi T&T 0-2 at Go Dau Stadium, Dong Tam Long An defeated Nam Dinh 1-0 at Long An Stadium and Thanh Hoa clinched a victory against Khanh Hoa 3-2 at Thanh Hoa Stadium. A high-scoring match also saw Hoa Phat Ha Noi beat Hai Phong Cement 4-3 at Hang Day Stadium.

Ha Noi T&T now lead the rankings with 40 points and Nam Dinh ranks at the bottom of the table with 12 points.

Dong Thap (VNA) – A water treatment plant was launched in Sa Dec town, southern Dong Thap province on Aug. 20 to bring clean water and improved sanitation to more than 111,000 people.

The plant is part of the Australian-funded Three Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Project in the Mekong Delta provinces of Bac Lieu, Kien Giang and Dong Thap in the 2001-2009 period.

The Australian Government, through the Australian Agency for International Development Agency for International Development (AusAID), contributes 48.9 million AUD to the project, including 15 million AUD for the water plant in Sa Dec town.

The project aims to improve the living conditions and alleviate poverty for around 280,000 in the three localities.

The project combines water supply and sanitation infrastructure, community development and awareness programmes and institutional strengthening to ensure sustainable improvements for the people of the three towns. Particularly, it focuses on access to safe water and improved sanitation by the poor and by minority groups.

The two other plants in Ha Tien town (Kien Giang province) and Bac Lieu town (Bac Lieu province) were put into operation earlier in 2008.-
